Two new businesses are getting ready to open in Freeport, in locations many business owners want to be – within short walking distance of L.L. Bean.
On the same side of Main Street as Freeport’s flagship attraction, a Thai restaurant will replace another one, Amanda Thai, which closed. Tony and Sudaret Csotikul of Lewiston will open Dok Koon Thai Kitchen, at 147 Main St., on Wednesday, May 11.
Not far from there, at 8 School St., a new Domino’s Pizza will catch pedestrians coming and going when it opens at the site of the former Edgecomb Potters in late June.
The Csotikuls operate TopSpice Thai of Topsham. Their new Freeport restaurant will specialize in Thai seafood and vegeterian entries, Tony Csotikuls said. He’s optimistic about his new location.
“It’s right on the Main Street, where people are walking and shopping,” he said. “I’d like to cook good food – not too expensive – and make things happen.”
Dok Koon, which also will offer takeout, will be open from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Sunday. The telephone number at the restaurant is 865-5999.
The owner of the new Domino’s, Fernando Stelser, also has owned the Domino’s Pizza shop on Oak Grove Avenue in Bath for seven years and operates Domino’s in Brunswick, Augusta and Auburn. He started out as a driver for the company.
There is much to do to get the building ready, but the Freeport Domino’s should be open the last week of June, he said.
“We are under construction now,” Stelser said. “There’s a lot of stuff to do, including structural work and handicapped access.”
Domino’s will offer single pizza slices, feature a children’s play area and more seating space than most other Domino’s, he said. There also will be a mezzanine and a cozy fireplace seating area, he said.
“It’s going to be completely out of the box,” he said.
Domino’s will be open from 10 a.m.-midnight Monday through Friday, 10-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-midnight on Sunday.
Dok Koon Thai Kitchen will open at the site of the former Amanda Thai at 147 Main St. on Wednesday, May 11.
