FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Academy scored a run in the first inning, another in the second and went on to a 2-1 victory against Traip Academy in a Western Maine Conference softball game Friday.

Mackenzie Buzzell homered in the first inning, then drove in Faith Pelkie with a groundout in the second for Fryeburg (7-3).

Traip (5-5) scored in the sixth and had a pair of runners on in the seventh, but Nicole Bennett struck out two batters to end the game.

Bennett allowed one run on five hits, striking out five.

BIDDEFORD 29, DEERING 10: Grace Martin went 4 for 4, including a double, and drove in a pair of runs to lead a 20-hit offense as the Tigers (8-2) beat the Rams (2-8) in six innings at Portland.

Kirsten Lebreux had three hits, including a double, and six Tigers recorded multiple-hit games.

Kaytlin DiBiase went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI for Deering, MacKenzie O’Donnell was 3 for 4 and Cassidy Coyne added three singles.

CAPE ELIZABETH 17, LAKE REGION 5: The Capers (9-2) got a two-run triple from Maddie Culkin and a two-run single from Tess Haller as part of a nine-run fourth, beating the Lakers (1-9) in five innings at Cape Elizabeth.

Culkin and Haller each finished with a pair of hits, Allison Ingalls had two doubles, and Jessica Robicheaw added two hits for Cape.

Brooke Harriman had two doubles for Lake Region.

NOBLE 4, GORHAM 2: Kendra Silvers and Jordan Boucher hit back-to-back RBI doubles with two outs in the sixth inning to lift the Knights (6-4) over the Rams (5-5) at North Berwick.

Noble erased a 2-1 deficit with its three-run sixth. Shaughnessey Gower started the rally with an RBI single. Boucher finished with two hits.

Grace McGouldrick had three hits, including a double, and drove in both runs for Gorham.

WELLS 10, FALMOUTH 6: Anya Chase drove in the go-ahead run with a two-run triple in the 10th inning and the Warriors (5-5) downed the Yachtsmen (5-5) at Falmouth.

Chase went 6 for 6 with five runs and also pitched a complete game, striking out 15 and scattering 11 hits.

Falmouth scored twice in the seventh to erase a 6-4 deficit. Julia Treadwell hit an RBI double and Emily Beaulieu added an RBI single.

Karissa Kenyon, Samantha Bogue and Sara Ring added two hits apiece for the Warriors.

Liberty Ladd and Jessica Collins had three hits apiece for Falmouth.

SANFORD 7, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Jen Jones threw a two-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none as the Spartans (7-2) downed the Red Riots (1-9) at South Portland.

Jordan Wilson had three singles and Lauren Thompson added a pair of hits, including a double, for Sanford.

Grace Rendle hit a double for South Portland.

SCARBOROUGH 15, MCAULEY 0: Chloe Griffin hit a two-run homer as part of a six-run first inning as the Red Storm (9-0) beat the Lions (3-7) in five innings at Scarborough.

Scarborough scored three runs in the second, including Lily Volk’s two-run homer. Volk also allowed only one hit and a walk while striking out eight.

Griffin and Volk each finished with three hits, and Maggie Murphy contributed two doubles and a single. Abbie Murrell also chipped in with three hits for the Red Storm.

Lillie Donovan collected the hit for McAuley.

THORNTON ACADEMY 5, BONNY EAGLE 4: Kaylee Burns had a solo homer, and Hannah Collins and Sarah Casey added run-scoring singles as the Golden Trojans (7-3) scored three runs in the sixth inning and held off the Scots (5-5) at Saco.

Bonny Eagle scored two unearned run in the seventh, getting an RBI double by Melissa McDonald.

Louisa Colucci got a strikeout to end the comeback.

Maizie Lee had three singles for the Trojans.

OCEANSIDE 7, MT. VIEW 1: Krista Ferguson threw a one-hitter, allowing one unearned run, striking out eight and walking two as the Mariners (10-0) downed the Mustangs (4-5) at Rockland.

Alexis Mazurek had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for Oceanside. Raechelle Joyce added two singles.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 11, GARDINER 0: Gabby Depatsy struck out 11 in a two-hitter and also hit a pair of home runs to lead the Panthers (6-3) past the Tigers (5-5) in five innings at Waldoboro.

WINDHAM 20, CHEVERUS 4: Taylor Tardiff hit a three-run homer during a 13-run sixth inning for the Eagles (6-1) against the Stags (0-10) in six innings at Portland.

Tardiff finished with four RBI and also struck out five while closing the game with two scoreless innings of relief for the Eagles, who led 7-4 going into the sixth.

LACROSSE

WELLS 15, SANFORD 10: The Warriors (2-3) took an 8-5 halftime lead and held off the Spartans (2-5) at Sanford.

Aimely Michaud had six goals and six draw controls, Alyssa Loukola added four goals, and Kylie Belanger scored twice for Wells.

GREELY 14, MT. ARARAT 6: Kelsey Otley scored four goals as the Rangers (3-4) handled the Eagles (3-4) at Cumberland.

Maegan Dougherty, Katherine Leggat-Barr, Mariah Belisle and Courtney Sullivan each had a pair of goals for Greely.
