PORTLAND — Two Portland men were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston following a head-on collision over the weekend in New Gloucester.

Hassan Aden, 21, was driving a taxi north on Route 100 in New Gloucester Saturday, May 14, just after 11 a.m. when he failed to observe a vehicle stopped in front of him waiting to turn, according to a release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, Aden crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle head on, the release said.

Aden and his passenger, 43-year-old Daga Abdullahi of Portland, were both transported to CMMC. Gray residents David Dyer, 67, and Sharon Dulac, 66, who were in the car struck by Aden, were transported to Maine Medical Center.
