We now have an excellent plan for re-purposing the 20-acre North Yarmouth Memorial School site that will create a community center and enhance our recreational opportunities. In addition, new homes for folks age 55 and over will be added around the property perimeter. New property taxes collected from these homes will more than pay for the cost to build and maintain the community center.

I’ve lived in North Yarmouth for over 50 years. I served on the Future Land Committee that identified and acquired many of our current parks and our Royal River access. I was president of the group that gave Wescustogo Grange Hall to the town in 1997 and I chaired the Board of Selectmen in the 1980s.

I feel that the NYMS plan is the most important project in North Yarmouth since the town voted to support the Skyline Farm acquisition. Vote yes on June 14.
