My Place Teen Center recognizes and congratulate Shydear Best for the June 2016 MPTC Teen Spotlight.
Shy began coming to the teen center two years ago and is a sophomore at Westbrook High School. Shy has lived in Westbrook for the past three years and lives with her friend Alysha. Her favorite things to do at My Place Teen Center are to engage in the programming activities offered each day and to hang out with everyone who attends MPTC.
Shydear’s favorite things to do in her free time are “reading, drawing, and cleaning.” Her her favorite book is the “Plain Truth,” by Jodi Picoult, and her favorite movie is “My Favorite Five.” She enjoys listening to R&B music and her favorite musical artist is Alicia Keys.
She describes herself as “energetic, athletic, organized, and always laughing.”
When asked what she would like to be when she grows up, she said, “I want to be a lawyer.”
According to MPTC staff, Shydear is a natural leader wherever she goes and often helps the younger kids with activities and homework.
