Remember to vote
Tuesday, June 14, is the Gray Town Election. All residents vote at Newbegin Community Center in the Henry Pennell Municipal Complex at 22 Main Street. The polls are open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Residents will vote in the Maine Primary for Republican and Democrat Representative to Congress, State Senate, State Legislature and Register of Probate. Votes will also be taken on the town budget and vacant municipal seats and on the MSAD 15 for budget, school board directors and two bond referendum questions. Samples of the state and municiapl ballots and warranty article notes are now available to view on line at www.graymaine.org

Runners and walkers
The annual Libby Hill Longest Day 5K will be held Tuesday evening, June 21. Runners and walkers can sign up now for $10, which will go toward trail upkeep. Gray-NG students can register for free, there will be a Kid’s Fun Run and lots of random prize giveaways. Come help support LHF. Register online at www.libbyhill.org

End of school
Saturday, June 11, will be the GNGHS Graduation. The last day for all other students, barring any unforeseen circumstances, will be Tuesday, June 21. The high school and middle school will dismiss at 11:a.m. and all elementary schools will dismiss at noon. Pre-K students last day will be June 20.

Library closure and events
The Gray Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, June 15, for a town training.

An Author Talk featuring Gerry Boyle, award-winning journalist and author of the Jack McMorrow and Brandon Blake series of crime novels, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16. Boyle will read from his newest release, “Straw Man,” the eleventh book in the Jack McMorrow Series.

Summerfest is coming
Plan ahead to celebrate the end of another great Maine summer with family, friends and neighbors on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Pennell Park. “Celebration of Gray’s Past, Present and Future” kicks off at 8 a.m. to noon with a Gray Give-Away, local Business Expo and music. Noon to 5 p.m. will feature arts and crafts vendors, music/entertainment, family-friendly games and contests, face painting, food, hands-on activities and exhibits.

Giant tag sale
The Fiddlehead School of Arts and Sciences will hold its second annual Giant Tag Sale to benefit the school on Sunday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 25 Shaker Road in Gray. Anyone wishing to rent a space to sell their own goods is required to register in advance and pay for their space at the time of registration. Community members can rent a space for $30. Spaces are 8.5-by-15 feet and can accommodate one 8-foot table per space. Tables will not be provided. Vendor space is limited. Notice is hereby given that the Gray Town Council will hold a first reading on Tuesday, June 7, at 7 p.m. at the Henry Pennell Municipal Complex, 24 Main St. to receive public comments on a proposed amendment to the Table of Permitted and Conditional Permitted Uses in the Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 402, Table 402.5.3) to add Day Care Facility for Six or more as a permitted use in the Village Center Zoning District.

Photography, re-enactors at park
The Maine Wildlife Park will feature Wildlife Photography on Saturday, June, 4 at 11 a.m. Leah Haraden, a professional photographer and instructor, will be joined by other area wildlife and landscape photographers to show you some basic tips at getting those great shots of your kids and the park’s wildlife and flowers.

The following Saturday, June 11, The Ancient Ones, a group of re-enactors, will set up a Living History Camp at the park at 11 a.m. The camp will depicts the late 1700-1800s, and the group will be in full period dress. Daylong demonstrations will include fire starting, cooking, trading, tomahawk throwing, flint knapping, flintlock muskets, weaving and more. Summer at the Rec
Gray Recreation Summer Camp 2016 is for Grades K-7, June 27-Aug. 19. Everything from ice cream walks, obstacle courses, dance contests and minute-to-win-it competitions, water balloon fights, chalk art, shaving cream wiffle ball games, penny carnivals, field trips to the beach, Funtown and much more. New this year, both lower grade level camps will be at the Henry Pennell Complex, which will be easy and convenient for drop-off.

Discount tickets are available for Aquaboggan, Funtown/Splashtown, Sea Dogs, Water Country and York Wild Kingdom at the Gray Rec this summer.

Nerf Nights are coming to Newbegin. Walls and barriers will be set up for team battles and organize shooting contests. You must bring your own weapon that accepts standard darts.
