Yard sale
Windham Historical Society will hold its first yard sale of 2016, to be held from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at the society, 234 Windham Center Road. Sale at thrift shop
The North Windham Union Church thrift shop is having a half-price sale on all items throughout the month of June. You will find clothing for all ages, household items, books, linens, children’s toys and games and more. Stop by 723 Roosevelt Trail on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 1-3 p.m.  or Saturdays 10 a.m.-noon for some great bargains.

Photography display
Photographs by Amy Meehan of Old Town are on display at the Windham Public Library now through July 30. More than 15 vibrant photos adorn the walls, displaying landscapes from a trip to Scotland to close-ups of a variety of birds. Stop by to see these stunning pieces. Summer running
Through the Summer Track and Field program (USATF) boys and girls ages 5-14 can participate in weekly local and regional meets, and if qualified for the state meet in August. Phil Jackson and staff will coach. Practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-7 p.m. at the high school track facility.  Meets will be on Thursdays during the day at various southern Maine high schools; the schedule will be provided at the first practice.

Bus transportation from WHS track will be provided to the meets only, return transportation will be on your own. The cost is $110 resident /$120 non-resident. Register at the Parks and Recreation office. Deadline is June 8.  If new to USATF, a birth certificate is required to register.

Plant sale
On Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Windham Historical Society will hold its annual plant and garden sale. All kinds of annuals, perennials, herbs and green things will be on sale. Donations of extra plantings are welcome, too. Watch for signs; the sale will take place on the Route 202 side of the Society’s future Village Green. Grief support
VNA Home Health Hospice offers an open grief support meeting on Tuesday, June 7, and every first Tuesday of the month from 6-7:30 p.m. at North Windham Union Church, Route 302. For more information, call Linda Hopkins, bereavement support coordinator for VNA Home Health Hospice, at 400-8714. This is sponsored by North Windham Union Church UCC Mission Committee, free of charge.

Veterans benefits
On Wednesday, June 8, Veterans Service Officer Matt Haley will be available at the Windham Veterans Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer questions and provide information about benefits and other topics. If you’ve got questions, stop by at Windham Veterans Center, Memorial Drive, Windham (the road off 302 right near Friendly’s – go all the way to the end.) Bean supper
The Country Music Hall of Fame will hold a concert and baked bean supper will be served Saturday, June 11, at Windham Veterans Center, Memorial Drive, Windham.  Supper from 5-6:30 p.m., concert and dance at 7 p.m. $15 for both (supper only, $8; concert only, $10). 310-0390. Proceeds benefit Veterans Center and Maine Country Music Hall of Fame.

Need food?
On Wednesday, June 8, the Good Shepherd Food Mobile will be at the Windham Food Pantry, 377 Gray Road, Windham from 10-11:30 a.m. (until supplies last).  Anyone in need of food assistance is eligible.  Bring your own bags and boxes.

Lobster bake raffle
Centerstage Performing Arts will hold a recital on June 4, and will be raffling a lobster bake, prepared by Naples Lobster Pound. Tickets are $5 each. Proceeds will benefit the dance group trip to competition in Cape Cod. The ticket includes 20 lobsters, 15 lbs. of steamers, baked potatoes, cole slaw, rolls and butter, bibs, and even wetnaps! VFW meets
Windham VFW will meet at the Windham Veterans Center on Wednesday, June 8; supper at 5 p.m. following by business meeting at 6 p.m.
