NAPLES — Fifth-seeded Waynflete built an early lead, then hung on through the final eight minutes Wednesday to earn a 7-6 victory against fourth-ranked Lake Region in a Class B South girls’ lacrosse quarterfinal.

Nina Moore had three goals and Christian Rowe added two for the Flyers (9-4), who were ahead 4-1 early in the game. Charlotte Majercik recorded eight saves.

Lindsey Keenan of Lake Region (8-5) had two goals and three assists. Madelyn Nelson recorded 12 saves.

Waynflete will play at top-seeded Kennebunk (12-0) in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Saturday.

YARMOUTH 15, FREEPORT 5: Jessica Kirk scored her three goals in the first half as the third-ranked Clippers (10-3) opened an 11-3 lead against sixth-ranked Freeport (5-8) in a Class B North quarterfinal at Yarmouth.

Eliza Lunt led Yarmouth with four goals and an assist. Kirk had an assist with her three goals. Cory Lagenbach, Meredith Lane and Greta Albert added two goals each for the Clippers, and Lilly Watson and Eva Then also scored. Mary Kate Gunville recorded the win with five saves.

Lily Johnston scored twice for the Falcons. Courtney Broderick, Taylor Rinaldi and Lindsey Cartmell also scored.

MASSABESIC 15, SCARBOROUGH 4: Maquila Dimastrantonio had six goals and an assist to lead the second-seeded Mustangs (12-1) over seventh-ranked Scarborough (4-9) in a Class A South quarterfinal at Waterboro.

Madi Drain added three goals and two assists, and Delia Sylvain had a goal and four assists for Massabesic. Jamie Sargent scored three goals for the Red Storm.

Massabesic will be home Saturday against Thornton Academy in the semifinals.

MORSE 15, OCEANSIDE 2: Isabella Monbouquette, Isabelle Paulus and Paige Daigle scored three goals each as the top-ranked Shipbuilders (12-1) defeated the eighth-seeded Mariners (7-7) in a Class B North quarterfinal at Bath.

Zenaide McCarthy recorded six saves for Morse, which will meet fourth-seeded Gardiner (8-5) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Bath.

MESSALONSKEE 1, MT. ARARAT 0: Katie Guarino hit her first home run of the season – a monster shot to straightaway center field in the fifth inning – to lift the top-ranked Eagles (16-0-1) over ninth-seeded Mt. Ararat (10-8) in a Class A North quarterfinal at Oakland.

CAPE ELIZABETH 7, MORSE 6: Kelly O’Sullivan and Tess Haller lined RBI doubles as the fifth-seeded Capers (11-6) scored four times in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead against 12th-ranked Morse (7-10) in a Class B South prelim at Cape Elizabeth.

Alison Ingalls and Megan Nicholson added RBI singles in the second for the Capers, who will play at fourth-seeded Oak Hill (14-2) in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Thursday.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 8, ERSKINE ACADEMY 5: Gabby Depatsy had three hits and was the winning pitcher as the seventh-seeded Panthers (12-5) beat the 10th-ranked Eagles (9-8) in a Class B North prelim at Waldoboro.

Medomak Valley will play at second-seeded Oceanside (16-0) in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Thursday.

WINDHAM 9, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Danielle Tardiff pitched a one-hitter, and Olivia Mora and Sadie Nelson hit two-run homers as the fifth-seeded Eagles (12-5) beat 12th-ranked South Portland (5-12) in a Class A South prelim at Windham.

Tardiff struck out 12 and walked three for Windham, which will play Thursday at fourth-seeded Thornton Academy (12-4).
