FALMOUTH — Cam Guarino threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead top-seeded Falmouth to a 4-0 win over No. 8 Deering in a Class A South baseball quarterfinal Thursday.

Tyler Gee and Reece Armitage each hit an RBI single as part of a three-run first inning for Falmouth (17-0). Robbie Armitage added an RBI single in the second.

James Sinclair took the loss, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out seven. Dominick Bernard picked up the lone hit for Deering (10-8) with a single in the fourth.

Falmouth will host fifth-seeded Portland in the semifinals on Saturday.

SCARBOROUGH 4, GORHAM 0: Mitchell Wedge pitched a two-hitter and the third-seeded Red Storm (14-3) defeated the sixth-seeded Rams (11-7) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Scarborough.

Cameron Seymour hit a two-run single in the first inning, and Timothy Carion and Nick Lorello each singled home a run later in the game.

Gorham’s two hits were both singles from Kyle King.

Scarborough will face No. 2 South Portland in a regional semifinal at 1 p.m. Saturday.

SOUTH PORTLAND 6, MARSHWOOD 4: The second-seeded Red Riots (15-2) scored six runs in the first three innings and held on to defeat the 10th-seeded Hawks (10-8) in a Class A South quarterfinal in South Portland.

The Red Riots scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Drew Abramson that drove home Ben Conti. South Portland added four runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run single by Sam Troiano.

Marshwood rallied with three runs in the fourth, including a two-run double by Nathan Curtis. Cole McDaniel hit an RBI double in the fifth.

South Portland pitcher Griffin Kelley allowed 11 hits, with two walks and one strikeout.

CAPE ELIZABETH 12, WELLS 0: Brendan Tinsman drove in four runs to lead the top-seeded Capers (12-5) past the eighth-seeded Warriors (9-9) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Cape Elizabeth.

The Capers scored five runs in the fifth, highlighted by Sean Agrondia’s two-run double, then ended the game with six runs in the sixth, capped by Tinsman’s three-run homer.

Marshall Peterson allowed two hits, walked none and struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings.

Cape Elizabeth will host No. 4 Maranacook on Saturday.

FREEPORT 7, YORK 2: Jack Davenport pitched a complete game and drove in two runs to lead the seventh-seeded Falcons (12-6) over the second-seeded Wildcats (11-5) in a Class B South quarterfinal in York.

Davenport struck out eight and allowed seven hits. Max Doughty paced the offense with four hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Caiden Shea added an RBI double and Caleb Rice had a pair of hits.

Chris Nielson produced three hits for York.

Freeport will face third-seeded Greely in the semifinals on Saturday.

SACOPEE VALLEY 8, TRAIP ACADEMY 4: Brady Anderson’s bases-loaded single in the sixth drove in the go-ahead run as the fourth-seeded Hawks (14-3) defeated the fifth-seeded Rangers (12-5) in a Class C South quarterfinal in South Hiram.

Trevor Salema’s RBI single gave Traip a 3-1 lead after four innings. But the Hawks took control with six runs in the sixth.

Brandon Burnell recorded the victory, pitching 6 2/3 innings while allowing five hits and striking out four.

Sacopee will visit No. 1 Monmouth Academy for a semifinal on Saturday.

LISBON 3, MADISON 0: Tyler Halls threw a one-hitter to lead the sixth-seeded Greyhounds (13-5) to a Class C South quarterfinal win in Madison.

Halls walked five and struck out eight. Chase Malloy had the lone hit for third-seeded Madison (14-3). Four Madison errors contributed to three unearned runs for Lisbon.
