Gospel concert
On Saturday, June 18, Music with a Mission presents Rock My Soul Five, which will perform gospel, blues and hymns beginning at 7 p.m. at North Windham Union Church, Route 302, North Windham. Tickets at the door are $12 for adults and $10 for students, children and seniors. Tickets are also available in advance online at www.mwamconcerts.com. The box office opens at 6 p.m., and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 892-7149. The proceeds will support community organizations.

Parks and Recreation
From June 20-24, Windham Parks and Recreation will present “Be the Leader” camp to help youth develop leadership skills and to create change in their communities. The camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the town hall gym and costs $150 for residents. For more information, call Windham Parks and Recreation Department 892-1905.

Historical society
Windham Historical Society, at 234 Windham Center Road, is open to the public Tuesday-Thursday at 10 a.m. in the summer (or by appointment) and is a good place to do genealogy research, visit displays, check old high school yearbooks and find out more about Windham’s rich history. This spring, state’s archeologists continue the “dig” on River Road near the Parson Smith house.

On Summerfest weekend, the 3rd Maine Co. A, Civil War reenactors, will camp out on the society’s Village Green. The camp will be open to the public after the Summerfest parade on June 25 and again on Sunday, June 26. The public is encouraged to visit, talk with the soldiers, ask questions and find out what life was like during wartime in the 1860s. For more information, call 892-1433 or 650-7484.

Bean supper
On Saturday, June 11, the Country Music Hall of Fame will hold a concert and baked bean supper at Windham Veterans Center, Memorial Drive, Windham. Supper will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. with a concert and dance at 7 p.m. $15 for both (supper only, $8; concert only, $10). 310-0390. Proceeds benefit Veterans Center and Maine Country Music Hall of Fame.

Pantry needs
The Windham Food Pantry could really use donations of paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins) and laundry and dish detergent right now. These and any other non-perishable food items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Also, Food Pantry Senior Day in July will be held Wednesday, July 6, since the first Monday is a holiday. Time is the same, 10 a.m. to noon.

Author talk

• Author talk
On Wednesday, June 14, from 6-7 p.m., Marilyn Weymouth Sequin, author of 17 books, will discuss “Hidden History of the Sebago Lakes Region,” her most recent book. She will sign books, and books to purchase will be available. Space is limited. Register with Barbara at 892-1908.

• Letterboxing
Letterboxing is an outdoor activity that combines treasure hunting and stamping. From June 17 through Aug. 29 there will be a letterboxing trail within Windham, set up by the library’s Children’s Room. Instructions and personal kits can be picked up at the library to start you on your journey. If you have a rubber stamp that you would like to use to mark where you have been, bring it along; loaners will be available. Families are welcome to take part together. Theater board members needed
Windham Center Stage Theater is seeking to fill two positions on its Board of Directors. Go to www.windhamtheater.org to fill out an Intent to Run form. The annual meeting will be held at 6:15 p.m. on June 14 at the Town Hall Theater. Public welcome.

Discount tickets
This summer, take advantage of the discounted admission tickets for some of southern Maine’s favorite places. Sale at Thrift Shop
The North Windham Union Church thrift shop is having a half-price sale on all items throughout the month of June. Clothing for all ages, household items, books, linens, children’s toys and games and other items are available. Stop by Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. or Saturdays 10 a.m.- noon, at 723 Roosevelt Trail for some great bargains.
