Firefighters in Portland quickly extinguished a building fire on Friday morning in the residential neighborhood near Back Cove.

The fire in a two-unit building at 33 Clifton St. was first reported shortly before 10 a.m., and the fire department reported via its Twitter account by 10:15 a.m. that it was under control.

No one was injured in the fire, and firefighters remains on the scene into the late morning, looking for hot spots to extinguish to keep the fire from flaring up again, the department reported.

When the department first announced the blaze on its Twitter account at 9:49 a.m., it called for “all hands,” or all available firefighters, to respond. Shortly afterward crews used two ladder trucks to vent the roof as others sought the source of the fire, it reported.
