Firefighters battle a blaze that destroyed a Crestview Drive home in South Portland on June 17. Acting Fire Chief Miles Haskell said the home, owned by Jimmy Nguyen of Jimmy Express Floor Sanding, was a total loss. Three engines, a ladder truck and an ambulance from South Portland responded, along with an engine from Scarborough. Three people home at the time of the fire all escaped without injury. Haskell said the fire apparently started when heat from the sun apparently ignited trash left in bags on a porch.
