Starting Saturday, July 9, Riverbank Park in Westbrook will again play host to a weekly market featuring produce, crafts, jewelry and more.

The Maine Market, now in its third year, is again expanding its offerings – and season – to allow for a more robust local market.

According to James Tranchemontagne, owner of the Frog & Turtle restaurant in downtown Westbrook, who organizes the yearly market, this year’s iteration will also feature food trucks, independent consultants like Pampered Chef, and a community yard sale.

In the first two seasons, the market had billed itself as putting an emphasis on Maine-made products. The market’s format has changed slightly from year to year, but it has consistently showcased local food, crafts, and other handmade items.

The expanded season will run every Saturday to Oct. 1, from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Tranchemontagne said the market will continue to feature local Maine farms, craft makers, artists and weekly live music. He said he is still looking for more vendors and more sponsorships, but that the current lineup is steady.

“We have had a wonderful interest in vendors and we are close to doubling last year’s numbers,” he said this week.

The market is working independently this season after being partially funded by the Westbrook-Gorham Community Chamber last year.

“As our own group it will allow us to respond to your wants and desires faster,” he said on the Maine Market’s Facebook page recently.

Food trucks like Flo the Coffee Truck will return. Tranchemontagne said that more trucks will join the fold, with a few mainstays and some rotating on certain weekends.
