Here we go again!  What a fantastic weekend of weather lies ahead.  It’s not going to matter what you are doing outside, the weather will cooperate.  The dry spell is creating water issues, but it’s also limiting any cancellations of outdoor events.  From weddings to road races the weather is nearly ideal for late June.

What will the issue be this weekend that could keep this from being perfect? I’m not sure there are any.  The sea breeze on Sunday will be noticeable on south facing beaches and there could be a spot or two of early morning fog on Saturday, but honestly, I’d be nitpicking to find anything at all wrong with the upcoming weekend forecast.

The lack of rain needs to be acknowledged, but it’s the weekend and since I can’t make it rain, we might as well get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

If you’re going hiking, biking, or running…

Coastal areas will be cooler both days and the low humidity brings about morning low temperatures which are comfortable.  After 11 a.m it will be quite warm, especially Sunday when many areas will be in the 80s by that hour.   The coast will remain in the 70s.

Saturday high temperatures

Maine coast to New Hampshire and north shore of Massachusetts: Southerly winds all weekend keep the south coast coolest, but the winds will be generally on the lighter side.  Afternoon breezes should pick up enough for some good sailing this weekend.

There won’t be much difference across the New England coast this weekend.  Water temperatures are always warmer further south and especially in enclosed bays where they should be reaching into the 60s this weekend.

Tides are high around the 4 p.m hour give or take 30 minutes.  It’s not a particularly high tide this weekend.

A warmer day on Sunday with inland highs in the 80s

If you’re playing soccer, softball, baseball, or golf…

Saturday’s forecast:  Picture perfect weather with dew on the fields early.  The dry weather will have the golf ball rolling quite far in the afternoon after the morning moisture has disappeared.

Sunday’s outlook: Another stellar day with abundant sunshine. Temperatures inland in the 80s after 12 p.m will feel quite hot during activities.  A touch of humidity get added to the air on Sunday as well.

If you’re gardening…

Water and weed, those are the two tasks for the weekend with an emphasis on watering.  Containers can dry out in a day or even half a day if they are small.  You’ll want to be sure to keep the moisture levels high so you aren’t seeing wiling plants.

If you’re running errands…

With little cloudiness and no rain, any time you are running errands you will be out in the sunshine.  Pick your times based on when others aren’t going to be in the stores and avoid the crowds.

If you’re going to a professional sporting event, wedding, or outdoor party…

Just like last weekend, rain won’t be a factor.  The sun is your biggest issue during the middle of the day at any venue, not in the shade. A sunburn can occur in as little as 15 minutes this time of year.

I will be updating the forecast on Twitter @growingwisdom throughout the weekend.
