SAVANNAH, GA — David Alan Ober died Friday, June 24, 2016 in Savannah, GA. David was born September 24, 1935 in Medford, Mass., the son of Arthur and Minnie Ober.

At age 5 David moved with his family to Falmouth Foreside, Maine where he attended school thru his sophomore year in high school. At that point the family moved to Kennebunk and Dave graduated from Kennebunk High School. While at Kennebunk High School he was an outstanding baseball pitcher spotted by the New York Giants. After high school graduation he attended the University of Maine at Orono where he graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. While there he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma and Honorary Scabbord and Blade. David also completed a post graduate course in Highway Management at the University of Mississippi. In 1958 Dave joined his new wife Rosalie Chase Ober at their home in Augusta where Dave began designing roads for the Maine Department of Transportation. Dave was the Design Engineer for Rt. 295 thru Portland, Me. For many years after retirement Dave served as the Engineer who was the head of the Location and Survey division of the

Maine Department of

Transportation.

Dave is survived by his wife Rosalie and their three children, Steven, David, and Ann. Also surviving are his brother, John Ober of Carrabassset, several grandchildren, Samantha Ober, Elizabeth Ober, and Chase Ober, of Westport, Maine, Kristin Cosgrove, of West Gardiner, Me., and Kaitlin Cosgrove, of Whitfield, Me. He is also survived by a new great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Cummings, also of Whitefield, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., July 8, 2016 at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church in Savannah, GA with a reception following.

Burial will be in Maine at a later date.
