The Bangor Humane Society is taking care of a puppy that was reported to have been dragged by its owner behind a truck Wednesday, WCSH6 reports.

The television states raBrewer Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt said 31-year-old Jeffrey Mayhew, 31, of Brewer was summoned on a charged of cruelty to animals, according to the television station.

The 6-month-old pit bull mix, who has been named Phoenix, suffered minor scrapes to his chest and injuries to his paws.

Mayhew also faces a drug possession charge.
