The director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra will recognize the collegiate national football champion Alabama Crimson Tide during Monday night’s Stars and Stripes Spectacular on Portland’s Eastern Promenade.

Music Director Robert Moody, a Clemson fan, plans to wear an Alabama jersey and conduct the Alabama fight song on the Fourth of July after losing a wager.

Moody lost a bet with former Assistant Conductor Norman Huynh, a University of Alabama grad, over the outcome of the championship game, in which Alabama beat Clemson.

Huynh played with the University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band. He’s departing later this month to become associate conductor of the symphony in Portland, Oregon.
