She was born in Portland on Sept. 25, 1923, a daughter of the late William and Josephine (Boudreau) Arsenault. She attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School.
A lifelong communicant of the Catholic parish, she was active in the St. Ignatius Parish Guild, and was instrumental in organizing parish dances and social events in the ’80s and ‘90.
As a homemaker, she also worked part-time in the community. Along with her husband George and her sister Reta, she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, George R. Porter, who passed away this past January; and one daughter, Roxane Hulen.
She is survived by: one son, Blaine W. Porter and his wife Kathy of Springvale; one grandson, Rick Porter and his wife Leticia of Westford, Massachusetts; one granddaughter, Lora MacDonald and her husband Parker of Bend, Oregon; and two greatgrandchildren, Rachel and Christopher Porter.
Visiting hours will be 6- 8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, July 8, at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
