The city of Portland is in the process of implementing new street parking regulations under the pretext of combating the problem of abandoned cars. It looks more like someone in City Hall has identified a new revenue stream via parking tickets.

Residents will be issued parking permits, which will permit them to park where they always have. Proof of residence is a local driver’s license and vehicle registration.

I have owned a house in Portland for 29 years and have retired and have a Florida driver’s license. I continue to enjoy the great state of Maine during the summer and fall. It seems that I will no longer be permitted to park in front of the home I own because I now spend my winters in Florida.
