BOOM 18-1 Volleyball, a team which included Cape Elizabeth’s Tess Haller, Greely’s Kayley Cimino, Scarborough’s Libby Chadbourne, Kacey Foerster and Emily Hanson, South Portland’s Molly Mawhinney and Calais’ Kelly Delaney, coach Erin Cady and assistant coaches Alexia Foster and Lloyd Delaney, became the first Maine team to attend the USAV Girls’ Junior national championship, where it placed first in its flight. BOOM 18-1 placed second in the region, the best finish for a Maine team. BOOM 18-1 also played over 60 maches and became the first Maine Junior Olympic team to attend four USA Volleyball qualifying tournaments. Also taking part this season were coach Melissa DeRan, assistant coach Melissa Lail, Cape Elizabeth’s Lydia Brenneman, Katie Connolly and Monika Scheindel, Greely’s Alex Tebbs and Gorham’s Chatham Mills.
