An Auburn man who is accused of stabbing the mother of his son repeatedly during a dispute in their home was arrested Tuesday evening on a felony domestic violence charge.

Eric Griffey, 44, is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Lewiston on $25,000 cash bail on a Class A felony charge of elevated aggravated assault, according to the Auburn Police Department.

When police arrived at 27 Clover Lane in Auburn around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, they found Griffey being restrained by a neighbor, and 41-year-old Kelley Cardona suffering from several stab wounds, the police department said in a news release.

The couple’s 5-year-old son was home at the time of the stabbing and has since been placed in the care of relatives.

Cardona was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she was listed in good condition.

If convicted, Griffey faces up to 30 years in prison.
