The Durham Town Office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; closed Wednesday; and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-2561. ATV registration stickers are available at the town office.

Tax time

Tax bills have been mailed to residents and are due Aug. 8. The assessor will be in the Town Office on Monday, July 25, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Chicken barbecue

A barbecue chicken dinner described as “totally awesome” will be hosted by the First Congregational Church of Durham, 773 Royalsborough Road (the intersection of routes 9 and 136), Saturday, Aug. 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu are wood-smoked barbecue chicken, a variety of salads, rolls and homemade desserts. The cost is $9, $3 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. The funds raised will support the church.

Community Lunch

The next Community Lunch at the First Congregational Church of Durham, 773 Royalsborough Road, will be served on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Doors open at 11:30 and the meal is served at noon. The suggested donation for lunch is $2-$4, and all proceeds fund future lunches.

The general schedule is the first and third Tuesday of the month. The church, located at the intersection of routes 9 and 136, is handicapped accessible. Those interested in helping or who have questions can call Julie Wagoner at 353-9715.

College honor

Sasha Hampton of Durham has been named to the dean’s list at he University of Maine at Farmington for the spring 2016 semester.

Brian Nugent of Durham made the dean’s list at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring 2016 semester. Nugent is studying game design and development at the Rochester, N.Y., school.

The Durham Community School library is open for grades pre-K to 2, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 10-11 a.m. It will be open Thursdays for Grade 3 and up, Aug. 4 and 11, from 10-11 a.m. Open library time for parents and students is from 9 a.m.-noon.

AMVETS, auxiliary membership

Food pantry

The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) food pantry, which serves the towns of Durham, Bowdoin, and Lisbon Falls, is open Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday from 8-10 a.m. The LACO Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street, Lisbon Falls. The parking lot is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church, off Berry Avenue. There is also a free clothing bank.
