NORTH YARMOUTH — Peter Lacy defeated incumbent James Moulton for a seat on the board of selectmen in a run-off election Tuesday.

Lacy, a political newcomer, won 385 votes to Moulton’s 216. Moulton has been involved in North Yarmouth politics for years and was running for a full term on the board.

Lacy and Moulton tied for a three-year seat on the board in the June municipal elections. A recount a week after the election confirmed the 409-409 tie.

Lacy, 35, is an assistant general counsel at Maine Revenue Services and the youngest candidate running for the board of selectmen. During the campaign this spring, Lacy said he wanted to be a voice for young families in North Yarmouth he felt were underrepresented in town government.
