
He was born Jan. 14, 1989, in Portland, a son of Lucien Fecteau and Catherine (Mininni) Fecteau. He attended Biddeford schools, and had been employed as a residential painter.
Matthew enjoyed baseball, hockey and reading novels. He loved the outdoors, fishing and nature. He was especially amazed by the stars, and now he sees them better than ever and has all the answers to his wonder.
He always enjoyed the company of his special buddy, Owen. He was a young man with a big heart who loved being at home surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vito and Elizabeth Mininni, and his paternal grandfather, Leandre Fecteau.
He is survived by: his mother, Catherine Fecteau and her significant other Jerry Nadeau of Biddeford; his father, Lucien Fecteau and his wife Celeste of Biddeford; siblings Patrick, Elizabeth, and Randy Fecteau and his wife Heather, all of Biddeford; step-brothers: Benjamin Turcotte of Biddeford and Ghislain Nadeau and his fiancée Katie of Windham; his special buddy, Owen Fecteau; his paternal grandmother, Armande Fecteau of Biddeford; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 4, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
