A suspect has been arrested and charged with an armed robbery at the Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Falmouth’s Route 1 shopping district Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery, in which narcotics were stolen, happened around 4:15 p.m. at the pharmacy at 33 Depot Road, next to the Falmouth Shopping Plaza and Shaw’s supermarket.

Lt. John Kilbride said police arrested Cory P. Waugh, 32, late Tuesday night at a home on Stable Road in Naples.

Kilbride said Waugh entered the pharmacy alone, showed a weapon and demanded that the pharmacist give him narcotics. He fled with the drugs, and ran toward Route 88.

A South Portland police dog team tracked Waugh, said Kilbride said in a press, and evidence gathered by the team, along with residents’ input, provided “critical leads in the investigation.”

Waugh is charged with robbery, violation of conditions of release, and a warrant for domestic assault.

Waugh is being held in the Cumberland County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. &nbsp
