Norton hires Dumond

Norton Financial Services, which offers employer-sponsored retirement plans and investment management services to businesses and individuals, has announced that Jamie Dumond of Westbrook has joined the company as executive assistant.

Previously, Dumond was employed with Eastdil Secured in California in the role of executive assistant to the managing director.  Prior to that, she was at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel as executive assistant to the general manager and hotel manager.

“We are pleased to have Jamie join us at Norton Financial,” says Peter Fendler, president, said in a statement. “The combination of her intelligence, strong communication skills and professionalism make her a valuable addition to our team.”

Delta Knights at park

The Delta Knights Band of Portland will perform in concert from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, in Riverbank Park. The free concert is part of a summer series on Wednesdays in the park and the series continues until Aug. 24.

Academic honors

The University of Maine at Farmington has announced that several Westbrook students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. They are Haley Berry, Timothy Bushika, Katie Clark, Gunnar Heckler, Jasmine Heckler, Shannon Mahoney, Sophia Manning, Julianne McLaughlin, Nicholas Minor and Sage Van Eekhout.

At the University of New England, Westbrook students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester are Ewa Achey, Sierra Alley, James Beahm, Megan Devlin, Ashlee Klemczuk, Abigail Leblanc, Chelsea Mesloh, Jillian Papel, Sydney Sanders, Emily Van Duzer, Ashley Whalen and Samantha Williams.

The Art All Around public art installation will be unveiled this Friday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m. in Blue Note Park. The project by the Maine Center for Creativity has been in the works for months, with local organizations such as My Place Teen Center, the Westbrook Community Center, Woodfords Family Services and Take Action Portland collaborating on large works of art made from recycled materials – all with a river theme. Mayor Colleen Hilton will be on hand for Friday’s event.

Anthony Conant and Grace Conant

Siblings Anthony Conant, 16, and Grace Conant, 18, were recently awarded the highest honors in scouting. Anthony became an Eagle Scout and Grace, an Ambassador Scout, received a Gold Award. Only 4 percent of Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts make it to these respective levels.

The Conants, who come from a family of scouting veterans, had a first-ever Girl Scout Gold Award Ceremony and an Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony at St. Anthony’s in early April, where about 120 guests attended.

Jamie Dumond

City Councilor Mike Foley is cooking on July 19 in Standish at Sebago Lake where Westbrook/Gorham Rotary Club met for lobster and steak at its annual outing, hosted by Henry Saunders.
