Dog days of summer

What a summer this has been! We’ve had the best summer-like weather I can remember here in Maine in years. Barely any rain – I know that’s not a great scenario for the environment – and it sure has been nice to have all of these sunny, warm days grace our Lakes Region. It seems to me that once August hits, the rest of the summer flies by as families prepare for sending kids off to school. Enjoy the rest while you can as it will be gone in a flash!

Community Party

The United Methodist Church of Good Fellowship is hosting its Fourth Annual Block Party on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Naples Village Green. The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, lemonade, casseroles, desserts, popcorn and ice cream. There will be music, a bouncy house and lots of games to play. Bring your beach chair and relax among friends. There will be a donation box for the Children’s Christmas Shopping Day items. This is a free event, but donations are being accepted and all are welcome.

Boat Show

A great way to enjoy the summer is to visit the Annual Naples Antique and Classic Wooden Boat show. This year’s show is Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will also be classic cars on display for your enjoyment.
