A Waterboro man was killed Friday morning when he was crushed by excavation debris at G and F Septic.

The York County Sheriff’s Office and rescue personnel were called to G and F Septic at 62 Sokokis Trail in East Waterboro at 11: 15 a.m. for an industrial accident. When they arrived, rescue workers found David Egan, 49, of Waterboro, had been crushed by excavation debris when he opened a trailer.

The debris included large tree trunks and other objects, said Sheriff Bill King.

“It appears he died shortly after the accident and was declared dead at the scene,” King said in a news release.

Deputies summoned representatives of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to the scene, as is standard for all industrial accidents that result in death, King said. OSHA continues to investigate the incident.

No other details were immediately availble.
