TORONTO — Troy Tulowitzki and Russell Martin hit back-to-back home runs, Marcus Stroman pitched 61/3 innings to win for the first time in four starts and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 9-2 on Sunday.

Edwin Encarnacion hit his 33rd home run, a solo blast off Luke Gregerson, as the AL East-leading Blue Jays won for the eighth time in 10 meetings with the Astros. Encarnacion and Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo are tied for most in the majors.

Tulowitkzi went 3 for 4 with three RBI. He hit an RBI single in the first, singled and scored in the fourth, and homered in the fifth, his 20th.

Martin followed with a first-pitch blast off Mike Fiers.

Martin also made the defensive play of the game, leaning into Houston’s first base dugout to catch Alex Bregman’s foul pop up in the seventh.

MARINERS 8, ATHLETICS 4: Kyle Seager doubled twice and drove in four runs as Seattle won for the eighth time in nine games, at Oakland.

Wade LeBlanc (2-0) gave up three runs over six innings to earn his second win since being acquired from Toronto in June

INDIANS 5, ANGELS 4: Abraham Almonte singled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and host Cleveland sent Los Angeles to its 10th straight loss.

TIGERS 7, RANGERS 0: Michael Fulmer pitched a four-hitter in Detroit’s second straight shutout of Texas in Detroit. Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez homered for the Tigers.

RAYS 12, YANKEES 3: Corey Dickerson hit a three-run homer off Luis Severino, Evan Longoria added a three-run double against Luis Cessa to cap a six-run fourth inning and Tampa Bay rolled at New York.

ROYALS 11, TWINS 4: Paulo Orlando and Lorenzo Cain each got four hits and drove in three runs as Kansas City won its first road series since late June.

METS 5, PADRES 1: Steven Matz carried a no-hit bid into the eighth inning and host New York won consecutive games for the first time in more than a month.

PIRATES 11, DODGERS 3: Josh Harrison and Adam Frazier each had four hits, Sean Rodriguez homered and had four RBI and Pittsburgh spoiled Brett Anderson’s return with a five-run first in a rout in Los Angeles.

CARDINALS 6, CUBS 4: Stephen Piscotty hit a three-run homer, Brandon Moss followed with a solo shot one out later and St. Louis used a five-run eighth inning to win in Chicago.

NATIONALS 9, BRAVES 1: Bryce Harper hit an RBI double in his return to the lineup, Tanner Roark won his fourth straight start and Washington won big at home.

PHILLIES 7, ROCKIES 6: Jimmy Paredes singled, doubled, homered and drove in three runs and Philadelphia held on at home to complete a three-game sweep.

BREWERS 7, REDS 3: Ryan Braun hit two homers, doubled and drove in six runs as Milwaukee avoided a sweep at home.

INTERLEAGUE

ORIOLES 8, GIANTS 7: Jonathan Schoop hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning and Baltimore overcame a six-run deficit to deeat struggling host San Francisco.

MARLINS 5, WHITE SOX 4: Left fielder Christian Yelich threw out Carlos Sanchez trying to score from second base on a two-out single in the ninth, and Miami won at home.
