FREEPORT — The Maine Department of Transportation on Monday, Aug. 15, began replacing a culvert on Route 1.
The work will take place a half-mile north of the Mallett Drive intersection and is expected to be completed by the first week in September. Motorists should expect delays through the 600-foot work zone, according to the MDOT.
There will be alternating one-way traffic, with the northbound lane of Route 1 closed and a temporary traffic light directing vehicles.
