BOSTON – A Massachusetts man who already served time in prison for defrauding Home Depot has admitted doing it again.
The U.S. attorney’s office says 56-year-old Robert Dooley of Salem pleaded guilty Wednesday in Boston federal court to 10 counts of wire fraud. He’s scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 15.
Authorities say he took items off the shelves and brought them to the return desk in exchange for store credit. He admitted defrauding the store of more than $35,000.
Prosecutors say Dooley conducted the scheme at least 40 times in January and February at stores in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine and Massachusetts.
Dooley was sentenced in 2007 to five years in prison after being convicted of defrauding Atlanta-based Home Depot of more than $330,000 in a similar scheme.
