A homeless man was accused Friday of killing a man found in a pool of blood early this week in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in Falmouth.
Kenneth Briggs, 27, formerly of Portland, was charged with murder in the death of Roger Nelsen, a 67-year-old man who had been living in his car.
Nelsen was found lying in a pool of blood early Monday by a Falmouth police officer patrolling the area. Nelsen appeared to have stab wounds and was able to speak with the officer briefly before losing consciousness. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died Wednesday.
Briggs and Nelsen previously lived together, Maine State Police said.
Briggs met with state police detectives Friday morning at the Biddeford Police Department and then was charged with murder, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Briggs was taken to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland and is likely to make his first court appearance Monday, McCausland said.
