A Sanford man was arrested Friday after he led deputies on a car chase through three towns, the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jeffrey Fournier, 48, was charged with eluding a police officer, driving to endanger and driving without a license.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies tried to stop Fournier for speeding around 2:30 p.m. on Back Road in Shapleigh. They said he sped off to Route 109 and then took Deering, Hanson’s Ridge, Oak and Philbrick roads in Sanford and finally Fall and Lower Middle roads in Lebanon, covering about 20 miles.

He was finally stopped after driving over spike mats deployed by deputies.

The sheriff’s office said he was being held at the York County Jail and bond was set at $2,000.
