A 90-year-old woman died Wednesday when the car she was riding in collided head-on with a tractor-trailer on Route 196, WCSH-TV reported.

Topsham police closed a section of the road near the intersection with Harmony Hill Road around 4:17 p.m., after the crash, which also involved a third vehicle.

A GMC Envoy driven by Justin R. Cyr, 32, of Lewiston crossed the center line while going westbound on Route 196 and side-swiped the tractor-trailer driven by Dana L. Moore, 55, of Freeport, Topsham police told WCSH.

The tractor-trailer collided head-on with a Honda Civic driven by Barbara Brusila, 61, of Warren. Her passenger, Jean Brusila, 90, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Barbara Brusila was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
