YORK — Lily Posternak scored two unassisted goals Thursday to lead York to a 3-1 victory against Fryeburg Academy in a Western Maine Conference field hockey opener.

Sydney Bouchard added an unassisted goal between Posternak’s goals with 14:01 left in the first half. Posternak’s second goal came with 26 seconds left in the half for York, which has a 37-game winning streak.

Joelle Buzzell scored for the Raiders against the Wildcats midway through the first half.

GORHAM 6, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Grace Dewitt, Grace McGouldrick and Erin Esty each scored two goals for the Rams in an opener at South Portland.

Dewitt and McGouldrick scored to give Gorham a 2-0 lead at halftime. Esty scored her goals late in the second half. Bryanna Alley had nine saves for South Portland.

MASSABESIC 8, SANFORD 0: Jacklyn Bearce had four goals for the Mustangs in an opener at Sanford.

Logan Champlin added a pair of goals and an assist, and Emma Rutledge and Sophia Lafrance also scored.

Jordan Benvie stopped 11 shots for Sanford.

PORTLAND 3, NOBLE 0: Bridget Maloney scored a pair of second-half goals as the Bulldogs shut out the Knights in an opener at Portland.

Sydney Gilbert had an unassisted goal for Portland at 7:34 of the first half.

Maloney scored her first goal unassisted, then received a feed from Jenni Nguyen to round out the scoring late.

Mia Colantuoni stopped nine shots for Noble. Maddie Pettengill made seven saves for the Bulldogs.

THORNTON ACADEMY 7, DEERING 0: Cat Henaire scored three goals to lead the Trojans in an opener at Saco.

Henaire gave Thornton an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice 13 seconds apart. Bella Robinson scored from Claire Decker and later assisted on Taylor Ouellette’s goal to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Emma Dutremble and Grace Decker added goals in the second half.

LEAVITT 2, MT. VIEW 1: Kaitlyn Leclerc had a pair of goals for the Hornets in an opener at Thorndike.

Leclerc’s first goal came with 20:10 left from Tamra Benson.

GORHAM 3, WINDHAM 0: Diana Kolb had three aces, 10 kills and four blocks as the Rams swept an opener at Windham.

Kristen Curley had three aces, four kills and six blocks for Gorham, which won 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

PORTLAND 3, CONY 0: Setter Sophia Silva had 11 assists as the Bulldogs swept an opener at Portland.

Shayla Eubanks had seven kills and Jessica Brown added four aces as Portland won 25-14, 25-15, 25-19.
