SCARBOROUGH — Lounge Turahimbawe scored with 31:28 remaining Friday night to give Deering a 1-0 victory against Scarborough in an SMAA schoolboy soccer opener.

Friday was the opening day for boys’ soccer in the region.

Mustafa Kadhim recorded eight saves in the shutout against the defending Class A South champion. Chris Franklin of Scarborough had six saves.

Iessah Ramadan assisted on Turahimbawe’s goal.

KENNEBUNK 3, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: The Rams took a 2-0 halftime lead and cruised at Kittery.

Brenden Whitten scored in the third minute and Patrick Gassman in the 19th.

Jayce Nielsen stopped nine shots for Traip. Sean Berry had a pair of saves for the Rams.

WAYNFLETE 1, WELLS 1: Liam Bell tied it for the Warriors with 10 minutes remaining in the second half to tie Waynflete at Portland.

Ilyas Abdi scored on a header from Ian McClure-Chute for the Flyers midway through the first half.

Cam Cousins finished with 15 saves for Wells. Luca Antonlini stopped three shots for the Flyers.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 5, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 3: Jayy Jean-Louis gave the Breakers the lead for good with his second goal of the game early in the second half at Freeport.

Evan Owen added a pair of goals and Justin Pelletier also scored for Pine Tree.

Micah LaSalle and Jeremy Powers had first-half goals for Greater Portland Christian. Jeremiah Hammond added a late goal.

FREEPORT 3, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Eriksen Shea scored two goals to lead Freeport at home.

Shea scored an unassisted goal to give Freeport a 1-0 halftime lead. Josh Spaulding assisted on Shea’s second goal. Joe Ashby assisted on Jesse Bennell’s goal to make it 3-0.

Joe Birk recorded five saves for the shutout.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, MASSABESIC 0: Ben Steva, Noah Niles and Eric Clum-Russell scored as the Trojans won at Saco.

Chase Pierce had two assists and Keegan Fowler added one, and Colin Daly stopped two shots for the shutout. Xavier Lundrigan stopped seven shots for the Mustangs.

PORTLAND 1, CHEVERUS 0: Manny Yugu scored midway through the first half from 20 yards on the right sideline for the visiting Bulldogs at Portland.

Rowan Daligan stopped five shots for Portland, including a crucial free kick from Luc Dionne at the end of the first half. Will Peterson made six saves for Cheverus.

YARMOUTH 1, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Luke Groothoff beat two defenders at the top of the box and scored on a 12-yarder from the right side in the 19th minute as the Clippers won at Yarmouth.

Groothoff’s goal stood up when the game evolved into a midfield battle through the second half.

Cal Owen had four saves for Yarmouth. Sean Agrodnia stopped four shots for the Capers, including an early breakaway.

FALMOUTH 1, GREELY 0: John Mullin scored with 26:34 remaining for the Yachtsmen at Falmouth.

Mullin scored on a scramble following a corner kick.

Jack Scribner recorded one save for the shutout. A.J. Eisenhart of Greely stopped seven shots.

BONNY EAGLE 5, BIDDEFORD 0: Ryan Moody scored four goals and Ben Steeves collected two assists to lead the Scots at Standish.

Regan McCleary also scored for Bonny Eagle, which led 3-0 at halftime on three goals by Moody.

CONY 4, LAWRENCE 0: Jeff Bilodeau scored two goals, and Nate Parlin had a goal and an assist as Cony won at Augusta.

Brad Houston also scored for Cony. Nick Robinson had seven saves.

Ben Copeland had 12 saves for Lawrence.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 1, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 1: Erskine Academy scored in the first half and MCI tied it in the second at South China.

Alex Cleaves scored for Erskine with 19 minutes left in the first half. Antonio Ranea tied it with 11 minutes remaining in regulation.

Erskine goalie Nick Howard made four saves. Aidan Peacock and Duncan Boreham combined to make five saves for MCI.

MARANACOOK 3, GARDINER 1: Three players scored for the Black Bears, who held on at Gardiner.

Sam Wilkinson, Duncan Rogers and Richard Down scored for Maranacook. Garrett Lunt answered for the Tigers.

Connor McGuire had 18 saves for Gardiner.

WATERVILLE 7, NOKOMIS 0: Ben Danner scored twice to spark the Purple Panthers at Waterville. Ethan Cayer added a goal and two assists.
