SOUTH HIRAM — Natasha Silva scored on a 25-yard shot with 24:24 remaining Friday night to give Sacopee Valley a two-goal lead, and the Hawks went on to a 2-1 victory against Lake Region in a Western Maine Conference schoolgirl soccer opener.

Silva took a feed from McKenzie Murphy from midfield.

Allie Black scored from Annette Humphrey with 27 minutes to play to give Sacopee Valley a 1-0 lead.

Neva Levitt scored an unassisted goal for Lake Region with three minutes remaining.

Madison Day had five saves for the Hawks. Madison Rock stopped nine shots for the Lakers.

BRUNSWICK 4, MT. BLUE 0: Maeve Arthur scored three goals to lead the Dragons (1-0) over Mt. Blue (0-1) at Brunswick.

Kira Walpow added a goal and an assist for Brunswick.

SCARBOROUGH 3, DEERING 1: Gabby Panagakos assisted on the tying goal, then scored the go-ahead as Scarborough (1-0) scored the final three goals to pass the Rams (1-0) at Portland.

Panagakos broke a 1-1 tie with 10 minutes left in the game, collecting a loose ball in the box after a corner and firing in a 7-yarder for a 2-1 lead.

Candy Odhiambo of Deering opened the scoring 3:13 into the second half, getting behind the defense as Kiaya Getchell lofted a direct kick over the defensive wall for a header. Natalie Taylor countered for Scarborough 10 minutes later, aggressively getting to Panagakos’ cross and heading it in.

Ashley Perriello added an unassisted goal with five minutes left.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2, PINE TREE ACADEMY 1: Courtney Spaulding scored a late goal on a rebound as the Lions won an opener at Freeport.

Maddie Grant put Greater Portland Christian in the lead before Emily Schliesner answered late in the first half.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 7, BELFAST 1: Tatum Hancock had three goals at Newcastle.

YARMOUTH 5, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Five players scored for the Clippers in an opener at Cape Elizabeth.

Eva Then, Katie Clemmer, Sara D’Appolonia, Gretchen Barbera and Hannah Dwyer scored for Yarmouth. Sarah Knupp answered for Cape Elizabeth in the first half.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, MASSABESIC 1: Hannah Niles scored two goals to lead the Golden Trojans in an opener at Waterboro.

Niles scored with seven minutes remaining in the first half to put Thornton up 1-0. With 20 seconds left in the half, Skyler Renauld tied it on a penalty kick.

Alyanna Beaudoin and Niles then scored in an eight-minute span of the second half for Thornton, which held an 18-1 advantage in shots.

FIELD HOCKEY

SANFORD 2, NOBLE 1: Marissa Nance scored with 31 seconds left in the first overtime to lift the Spartans (1-1) over the Knights (0-2) at North Berwick.

Noble took the lead 5:17 into the game when Mallory Feenstra scored from Alyson Gregoire.

Alysha Simpson tied it from Nance with 14:10 left in the second half.

Jordan Benvie of Sanford made nine saves. Mia Colantuoni stopped 14 shots for the Knights.

TRAIP ACADEMY 1, WELLS 0: Amelia Sullivan scored midway through the second half to lift the Rangers (1-0) over the Warriors (0-1) at Kittery.

Freshman Nicole Roberts recorded the shutout and Cassidy Delano played a strong defensive game for the Rangers.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 9, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Hannah Twombly and Amber Rose finished with three goals and one assist apiece as the Panthers (1-0) cruised past the Seagulls (0-1) at Yarmouth.

Kiersten Marr added two goals and one assist, and Katie Larson also scored for the Panthers, who led 7-0 at halftime.

Eliza Todd made three saves to record the shutout. Alexis Gamage had 14 saves for the Seagulls.

FALMOUTH 2, KENNEBUNK 1: Devon Sarazin and Grace Soucy scored to lift Falmouth (2-0) over the Rams (0-1) at Kennebunk.

Sarazin opened the scoring in the first half from Isabella Libby. Soucy made it 2-0 in the second.

The Rams cut it to 2-1 when Christine Jarowicz scored from Britney Gregoire.

Shannon Staples of Falmouth made 13 saves. Liv Kudas stopped eight shots for the Rams.

GREELY 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Maddy Perfetti scored from Lizzie Brown 4:03 into overtime as the Rangers (1-1) edged the Patriots (0-2) at Gray.

Greely took the lead 26:44 into the first half on a goal by Emma Dexter. The Patriots tied it on a goal by Maddie Post 6:43 into the second.

Kylie Rogers made 11 saves for the Rangers. Alicia Credit stopped seven shots for Gray-New Gloucester.

VOLLEYBALL

YARMOUTH 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Andrea St. Pierre had six aces and three digs to lead the Clippers in a season-opening sweep at Yarmouth.

Allison Clark had 11 kills and five aces for Yarmouth, which won 25-12, 25-13 and 25-9.

BONNY EAGLE 3, DEERING 1: Mia Ferrante had four kills and two aces as the Scots won an opener in four sets at Standish.

Jenna Litis had seven aces, four kills and three assists, and Samantha Morash added six kills, three aces and two blocks for the Scots, who won, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-18. Kaylee Helmick had seven kills and four aces for Deering.

GREELY 3, SCARBOROUGH 0: Morgan Selby and Steffie Johnson each had two aces as the Rangers took a straight-set victory at Cumberland, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15.

Selby added three kills and 11 assists, and Johnson had two kills. Kayley Cimino contributed 11 kills, two blocks and seven assists for Greely, and Molly Chapin had four kills, five digs, a block and an assist.

SOUTH PORTLAND 3, CHEVERUS 0: Molly Mawhinney finished with 20 kills to lead the Red Riots to a five-set victory in an opener at South Portland, 25-19, 14-25, 28-26, 27-29, 16-14.

Skye McCann of South Portland finished with 14 kills.

Mary Jerome led Cheverus with 11 kills. Alexis Parson added 10.

THURSDAY’S FIELD HOCKEY

WINDHAM 7, BONNY EAGLE 0: Chloe Wilcox and Emily Skvorak scored two goals apiece to lead the Eagles (1-0) past the Scots (0-1) at Windham.
