Speed was the cause of a pickup truck crash that killed two men and critically injured a third Saturday in Prospect, Maine State Police said.

John Moriarty, 59, of Bangor and Brad Pomeroy, 35, of Searsport were killed in the crash. Adam Littlefield, 31, of Winterport was in critical condition with multiple injuries at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Police said all three men were ejected from the pickup truck they were riding in at 5:30 p.m. when the truck hit a utility pole on North Searsport Road and rolled over several times. Police have not determined who was driving the truck.

Moriarty and Pomeroy died at the scene.
