BAR HARBOR — An Orono man died after his motorcycle crashed Sunday on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.

Abdulrahman M. Alamer, 21, died at MDI Hospital from injuries received in the crash, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

Alamer was riding down Cadillac Summit Road when he lost control of his red Ducati motorcycle after passing two cars about 4:30 p.m. The motorcycle skidded off the road and hit am embankment, according to the sheriff’s office. Alamer was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a tree. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The National Park Service said the victim was alive when rangers arrived five minutes after the crash.

Alamer was from Saudi Arabia and was a student at University of Maine in Orono.
