About 3,500 Emera Maine customers in eight communities on Mount Desert Island lost power for an hour Saturday.
The 11:30 a.m. outage was caused by a malfunction at the Somesville substation, said Bob Potts, Emera Maine spokesman.
He said crews made a temporary repair and will return Monday to complete the job.
Communities affected were: Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Seal Cove, Bass River, Bernard, Cranberry Island, Islesford and Manset.
