PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — Police are investigating after approximately 100 lobsters were stolen from a holding tank at a marina in Portsmouth sometime in mid-August.

Sgt. Josh McCain tells The Portsmouth Herald the theft was reported to police on Tuesday but the lobsters were taken from the Wentworth Road marina between Aug. 14 and Aug. 20.

McCain says he’s unsure why there was such a delay in reporting the crime.

Officers were also recently called to the marina for a burglary reported at Portsmouth Kayak Adventures on Aug. 25. Police did not disclose what was taken to protect the integrity of their investigation.

The marina, located on Sagamore Creek, had been known as Witch Cove Marina before it was sold in August.
