MANCHESTER, N.H. — Paul Arthur Peloquin, 85, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Villa Crest Nursing home in Manchester, N.H., after a long illness.

He was born in Biddeford on Aug. 27, 1931, the son of Arthur and Blanche (Gagne) Peloquin. He grew up in Biddeford, and graduated from St. Louis High School. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and served during the Korean War.

After his military service, he married Jeannine A. Bastarache from Sanford in 1955. He then attended engineering school in Chicago, and went on to have a long career as an engineer at Sanders Associates Inc. in Nashua, N.H., where he raised his family and lived for over 35 years.

In retirement, Paul and Jeannine moved to Cape Neddick, where they enjoyed over 25 years in the York County community.

He enjoyed playing golf, creating and making stained glass art, walks on the ocean and his neighbors. An avid fan his entire life, he never missed watching a Red Sox or Patriots game.

Paul was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, and served often as an usher. He also served Communion on a regular basis to many local nursing home residents.

Mr. Peloquin served the York community Meals on Wheels program for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Jacqueline Neveux and Dolores Roy; four brothers-in-law, Roland Roy, Robert Neveux, Raymond Bastarache and Patrick Speer; and one nephew, John Speer.

Paul is survived by: his beloved wife of 61 years, Jeannine, who resides in Villa Crest Nursing Home in Manchester N.H.; his twin brother, Guy Peloquin and wife Carol of Biddeford; a sister-in-law, Marie Speer of Orlando; two daughters, Karen Brown and her husband Scott of Fishers, Indiana, and Kathryn LaVallee and her husband Tom of Kittery; one son, Timothy Peloquin and his wife Heather of Chester, New Hampshire; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. Burial will follow the service at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale.
