LEWISTON (AP) — Police say a 27-year-old man suspected of domestic violence is in custody after stabbing a Lewiston police officer five times.

Lewiston Police Cpl. Michael Dumond received treatment for non-life threatening wounds to his hands and upper torso early Monday.

Police arrested the alleged attacker, Jonathan Order, on charges including aggravated attempted murder and two counts of assault on a police officer. He was also charged with assaulting two corrections officers, along with aggravated domestic violence assault.

Lewiston police said that Order stabbed Dumond after officers negotiated with him for 30 minutes. Police say Order awaits arraignment at Androscoggin County Jail, where he was held on Monday. A jail official said it was unknown if he had hired a lawyer.
