Library offers lessons on digital resources
The Scarborough Public Library is offering a crash course to introduce patrons to the variety of digital resources offered at the library. The course will be offered twice, once on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m., and again on Friday, Sept. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Computers will be available, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own laptops or mobile devices. St. Nick’s church holds harvest fest

On Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Scarborough will host its second annual Harvest Festival. This event, which is free and open to the public, celebrates the end of the growing season for the Scarborough Community Garden, which provides free fresh vegetables to local food pantries. Land trust holds Fuller Farm walk

The Scarborough Land Trust will hold a family discovery walk on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 1:30-3 p.m., at Fuller Farm, off Broadturn Road. New bean supper offered

The Scarborough Free Baptist Church if offering a new bean supper series this fall. The first supper will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The menu includes Wally White’s famous baked beans, two kinds of hot dogs, cole slaw, chop suey, biscuits and dessert. The church is located at 55 Mussey Road. Tri by the Sea coming Oct. 2

The Tri by the Sea, Maine’s first youth triathlon will take place at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2. The event kicks off at Cape Elizabeth High School and includes swimming, running and biking contests. Kids 7 to 10 years old will 75 yards, bike 2 miles and run 800 yards. Those 11- 15 will swim 175 yards, bike 6 miles and run 1 mile. The cost is $40 for residents and $44 for nonresidents. Comedy show aids education foundation

Laugh for Education, a fundraiser for the Cape Elizabeth Education Foundation, featuring Maine comedian Bob Marley, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $25 each. Tickets are available at www.eventbrite.com. The event is not suitable for young children. All proceeds will benefit the education foundation, which offers grants twice a year to foster creativity and innovation in Cape schools.

Hospice group seeks volunteers

VNA Home Health Hospice, headquartered in South Portland, is holding a series of upcoming training sessions for anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer.
