The Waldoboro Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a Waldoboro man who eluded police by escaping through a hole in the floor of his home on Flanders Corner Road.
Waldoboro police, in a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page, said they went to Brian J. Bennett’s home on Wednesday morning to take the 36-year-old man into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant out of Belfast District Court.
When the officers arrived at his home, Bennett locked the doors and refused to surrender. Police forced their way into the home, but by the time they gained entry Bennett had fled through a hole in the floor. He was last seen running down his driveway toward the road.
Officers gave chase, but Bennett escaped. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office tried unsuccessfully to track him with a police dog.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Waldoboro Police Department at 832-4500.
