Retired educator and veteran storyteller Dr. Phyllis Blackstone will perform her program of travel stories titled “See the USA … In a RoadTrek” at the Bath United Church of Christ, located at 798 Washington St. in Bath. The performance will take place on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Blackstone, a retired university professor of education, has traveled extensively throughout the United States in her 1998 RoadTrek, a 17-foot conversion van motorhome. Upon retirement, she sold her condo, her car, gave away her furniture and furnishings and began a trip across the country to — in her words — “find her bliss.” As a storyteller, Blackstone visited many storytelling festivals, conferences and events.

During this 45 minute program, Blackstone will share her travel stories. She will also be available after the program to discuss the details involved with becoming a full-time traveler.

Blackstone offers storytelling programs to children, adults and senior citizens and has led several workshops and programs about storytelling. She is also available to tell faith-based stories to churches and faith-based audiences. She can be reached at phyllis.blackstone@gmail.com or (207) 860-6622.

The Octo. 6 performance is a fundraiser for The Neighborhood’s new Innkeeper’s Ministry. A donation of $8 is suggested, although the church and the storyteller invites the public to attend even if donations can’t be made.
