A mentally disabled Lewiston man who was reported missing Friday afternoon has been found unharmed, Lewiston police said.

Claude Hopkins, 64, had been reported missing from his home on Macsullivan Street after he was seen entering the woods at the end of Jenkins Street, a short walk from his home. The Maine Warden Service assisted Lewiston police in a search effort.

A local resident saw Hopkins walking on College Street toward Greene on Saturday afternoon and recognized him from a news report, police said.

Hopkins was transported to St. Mary’s hospital for evaluation, even though he appeared to be in good health, police said.
