PEABODY, MA — Joan (Blanchette) Sweetser, 86, of Peabody, formerly of Mansfield, MA, died Thursday morning, September 29th, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Eagle Lake, ME, to the late Arthur and Delia Blanchette, grew up in Eagle Lake and Brunswick, and received her education in local schools.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan of Peabody, MA; son, Nathan and his wife, Andrea, of Chesterfield, VA, grandchildren, Amy Crump and her husband, Harry, and their children, Natalia, Donovan, and Adeline; Cory Bangert and his wife, Megan; Jamie Bangert; Matthew Sweetser; her sister Carolee Brown of Orrs Island, ME, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband

Arthur Vose Sweetser, sisters Rynell Labbe, Pat Ingerson, Ione Ullrich, Barbara Laberge, and brothers Freeland Blanchette and Laurel Blanchette.

She was a loving mother, dedicated homemaker, and tireless caretaker. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, her pets, and her morning coffee.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 11 a. m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Kingfield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be considered to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
