LEWISTON — Frank Williams caught nine passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns as Bates pulled away to beat Williams 29-17 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Bates trailed 14-7 early in the second quarter, but scored a pair of touchdowns before halftime to take a 19-14 lead.

Quarterback Sandy Plashkes threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Williams and a 17-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Ross.

After Adam Regensburg kicked a 38-yard field goal early in the third quarter for Williams, Plashkes threw a 73-yard touchdown pass to Williams to push Bates lead to 26-17.

Grant DeWald added a 26-yard field goal later in the third.

Plashkes finished 10 for 24 for 240 yards and four touchdowns.

WESLEYAN 37, COLBY 6: Mark Piccirillo threw for 127 yards and rushed for 109 yards as the Cardinals (1-1) cruised to a win over the Mules (1-2) in Waterville.

Wesleyan led 23-0 at halftime and scored 30 unanswered points before Colby scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Christian Sparacio to Sebastian Ferrell with 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Sparacio completed 16 of 26 passes for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

TUFTS 41, BOWDOIN 21: Ryan McDonald rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns as the Jumbos (3-0, 3-0 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (0-3, 0-3) in Brunswick.

McDonald also threw for 92 yards, while Chance Brady rushed for 54 yards on eight carries with a touchdown for Tufts.

Nick Vallas returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown for Bowdoin.

Also for the Polar Bears, Nate Richman scored on an 11-yard run and Bryan Porter caught a 13-yard TD pass from Noah Nelson.

Nelson was 21 for 45 passing for 223 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

HUSSON 50, GALLAUDET 16: Cory Brandon threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns, and Obie Christmas added a pair of rushing touchdowns to lead the Eagles (4-1, 2-0) to an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference win over the Bison (1-4, 0-2) at Bangor.

Robenson Saintard caught of pair of touchdowns and Kadeem Edge caught five passes for 98 yards and one touchdown for the Eagles, who scored 29 points in the second quarter to build a 43-8 halftime lead.

The Husson defense had two interceptions and forced one fumble while limiting Gallaudet to just 117 yards of total offense. Husson’s offense gained 491 yards.

Brandon completed 11 for 17 passes for Husson. Chuck Brown had 74 yards rushing for the Eagles.
