ORONO — Craig Martin scored 1:15 into overtime, and Quinnipiac edged past the University of Maine 3-2 in a nonconference men’s hockey game at Harold Alfond Sports Arena on Saturday night.

Martin’s goal spoiled the Black Bears’ comeback and dropped Maine to 3-1.

After the the Black Bears fell into a 2-0 hole, Blaine Byron put them on the board with a power-play goal 4:40 into the second period, assisted by Cam Brown and Brendan Robbins.

Nolan Vesey tied it with 4:23 remaining.

The Bobcats (2-1-1) took a 1-0 lead on Tommy Schutt’s goal with 2:30 left in the first period.

Tim Clifton quickly increased the advantage with a power-play goal with 1:04 left in the period.

Quinnipiac’s Andrew Shortridge made 20 saves. Rob McGovern had 30 for Maine.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 3, BOSTON COLLEGE 2: Vendula Pribylova scored with 37 seconds remaining to lift the Black Bears (2-6, 1-3 Hockey East) over the Eagles (3-2-1, 3-1-1) at Auburn.

Kara Washer and Lydia Murray assisted on the winner.

Boston College took a 1-0 lead on Caitrin Lonergan’s goal 3:33 into the second period. Morgan Sakundiak tied it with 7:40 left in the second.

The Black Bears took their first lead in the third as Brooke Stacey scored with 15:57 remaining. The Eagles tied it on a goal by Toni Ann Miano with 5:19 left.

Carly Jackson stopped 28 shots for the Black Bears. BC’s Katie Burt had 18 saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

UNE 6, ROGER WILLIAMS 0: The University of New England (13-2, 8-0 Commonwealth Coast) scored six times in a 16-minute span of the first half and cruised past Roger Williams (3-10, 3-6) at Biddeford.

UNE ran its winning streak to four and improved to 9-0 all-time against the Hawks.

Sydney Liptak scored in the 16th minute. Vonde Saunders then added consecutive goals before Nicole Matarozzo, Becky Zakorchemny and Olivia Madore rounded out the scoring.

Hannah Buckley had two assists, while Holly Smith and Nicole Schena combined on seven saves for the shutout.

HAMILTON 2, BOWDOIN 1: Tatiana Bradley scored off a pass from Margaret Revera five minutes into overtime to push the Continentals (8-4, 6-3 NESCAC) past the second-ranked Polar Bears (9-2, 5-2) at Clinton, New York, snapping Bowdoin’s four-game winning streak.

Eva Rosencrans scored late in the first half to give Hamilton a 1-0 lead, but Bowdoin tied it on a goal by Johna Cook, who scored on a scramble in front of the net with seven minutes left.

AMHERST 6, COLBY 2: Mary Grace Cronin scored three goals as Amherst (9-3, 5-3 NESCAC) cruised past the Mules (5-7, 2-6) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Amherst led 6-0 late in the second half before Anna Rudinski put Colby on the board. McKayla Blanch added a goal for Colby four minutes later.

ST. JOSEPH’S 4, MOUNT IDA 0: Kelsey Dumond and Kara Kelly each scored two goals, Libby Pomerleau had two assists and the Monks (9-5, 4-1 GNAC) beat the Mustangs (9-6, 1-4) at Standish to extend their winning streak to six.

Dumond opened the scoring 11 minutes into the first half. Kelly scored in the 32nd minute, and Dumond put in her second two minutes later. Kelly scored again in the 47th minute.

St. Joseph’s outshot Mount Ida 36-3 and keeper Megan Baker did not have to make a save.

WORCESTER STATE 5, USM 1: Jolane Thibault scored a pair of second-half goals as the Lancers (12-4, 8-1 Little East) cruised to a win over the University of Southern Maine (7-9, 6-4) at Worcester, Massachusetts.

The Lancers led 3-0 at halftime and 5-0 early in the second hal, before Tayla Smedberg scored for the Huskies off a pass from Michaela Demers at the 41:16 mark.

MEN’S SOCCER

ST. JOSEPH’S 0, NORWICH 0: St. Joseph’s outshot Norwich 21-7 but was unable to find the back of the net in a tie at Northfield, Vermont.

Blake Mullen stopped two shots for the Monks (11-1-4, 6-0-1 GNAC), who are unbeaten in their last 14 games, having allowed three goals in that span.

Billy Whaley made seven saves for the Cadets (7-4-3, 4-0-3).

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 1, USM 0: Fabio Araujo scored off a cross from Haden Cordeiro in the 19th minute, and the Corsairs (9-4-1, 2-2-1 LEC) fended off the Huskies (1-10-3, 0-5) at Gorham.

Simon Hubert made 10 saves for the Huskies.

BOWDOIN 2, HAMILTON 1: Moctar Niang scored his second goal of the game on a header as time expired in overtime and the Polar Bears (7-3-2, 3-3-1 NESCAC) beat the Continentals (6-5-1, 4-3-1) at Clinton, New York.

Ethan Ellsworth assisted on Niang’s winner.

Niang opened the scoring 2:29 into the game off a feed from Matty McColl. Hamilton responded late in the first half with a goal from Killian Clancy.

AMHERST 1, COLBY 0: Bryce Ciambella scored in the 41st minute and Amherst (10-1-1, 5-1-1 NESCAC) outlasted the Mules (4-6-2, 1-4-2) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Avery Gibson made six saves for Colby.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UNE 2, NICHOLS 0: Anna Michaud and Peyton Janelle scored for the Nor’easters (9-3-1, 5-0-1 CCC) in a win over the Bison (3-10-1, 0-6) at Biddeford.

Michaud opened the scoring in the 30th minute off a pass from Katelyn Pierson. Jessica Meader assisted on Janelle’s goal in the 90th minute.

BOWDOIN 2, HAMILTON 0: Emma Beane scored from 30 yards out midway through the first half and the Polar Bears (8-3, 4-2 NESCAC) went on to beat Hamilton (3-7-2, 1-7-1) at Clinton, New York.

Bowdoin extended its lead on a second-half goal from Claire Dardinski, who took a pass from Brigit Bergin.

Rachel Stout made six saves for the Polar Bears.

AMHERST 2, COLBY 0: Hannah Guzzi scored two goals to lead Amherst (9-2-1, 5-1-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (6-6, 1-6) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Samantha Rizzo made eight saves for Colby.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 2, USM 1: Alyssa Martins headed in the winning goal in the 97th minute to lift the Corsairs (5-8-2, 2-2, LEC) over the Huskies at (4-10, 0-5) North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Liz Stearns scored in the 29th minute to give the Corsairs a 1-0 lead. Madi Freeman got the equalizer for USM in the 31st.

ST. JOSEPH’S 1, NORWICH 1: Desiree Parent scored for the Monks (8-5-3, 5-1-3 GNAC) in their tie with the Cadets (2-9-2, 1-7-1) at Northfield, Vermont.

Parent gave St. Joseph’s a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Norwich tied it on Ashley Carvalho’s goal in the 66th minute.

Brook Troup stopped three shots for the Monks.

WOMEN’S RUGBY

BOWDOIN 85, CASTLETON STATE 0: Paige Pfannenstiel scored four tries to lead the Polar Bears (3-1) over the Spartans (0-7) at Brunswick.
